Literarcy Box FAQs
The literacy boxes are designed to progress your little learner through the first three years of schooling. As children learn at their own unique pace, boxes can be used by learners at different stages in their learning journey.
- Phase 1 — Designed for the first year of learning, for little learners who are ready to start learning how letters make sounds and how those sounds can be blended together.
- Phase 2 — Designed for the second year of learning, for little learners who understand single-letter sounds and some common consonant digraphs and are ready to broaden their understanding of phonemes.
- Phase 3 — Designed for the third year of learning, for little learners who grasp vowel digraphs, common blends and the Bossy-E rule and are ready to explore more complex sounds such as trigraphs and quadgraphs.
In Phase 1, little learners are introduced to four new sounds each month.
In Phase 2, they will learn about split digraphs, vowel digraphs and common consonant blends. Each month your little learner will be exposed to four new phonic patterns.
In Phase 3, more advanced little learners explore consonant blends, trigraphs and quadgraphs with four letter groups each month.
Absolutely everything you need is supplied in your literacy box each month. The only items you'll need from home are scissors and glue.
Each phase is designed for busy households and little learners whose attention span is still growing. Each day's plan aims for activities to take between 10–15 minutes.
Each month, all boxes come with:
- 20 daily hands-on worksheet activities
- 20 daily craft or game activities linked to the sounds
- A weekly calendar to star activities as completed
- A monthly calendar to track progress
- All supplies required to complete worksheets and activities (You'll need your own scissors and glue)
For your child's safety and understanding of activity instructions, an adult should be present as they complete all activities. It's a great way to spend a little time with your child each day and watch them blossom.
Clear instructions are provided with every worksheet and activity to make it easy for you to support your child. Parent guides are included for extra support along the way.
The Companion Boxes are designed to pair perfectly with the monthly Literacy Boxes. They provide a wide range of interactive, reusable resources that support your child's learning at the phase they're at. While not essential, they make practice easier, more hands-on and more engaging.
That's totally okay — family life can be busy! Activities can be completed later in the week, or you can save some of the craft or game activities for school holiday fun.
If you select a one-off box or join a subscription, you'll join the phase at its current spot. Boxes are not sold for previous months that have already passed in the year. You can, however, receive those boxes in the following year's cycle.
Yes. As the Coordinator of a special needs school and a teacher with a Master of Special Education, Kym has designed these boxes with all little learners in mind. They include a variety of activities, hands-on learning and a multi-sensory approach to support the uniqueness of every learner. Short activities suit learners with shorter attention spans and the repetition of sounds through worksheets and activities across each week is designed to support retention.
Each box is designed to be used by one child. You can absolutely subscribe to multiple boxes, especially if your children are at different stages in their learning journey.
Items from the Companion Boxes are not sold separately. They're curated as a complete set to complement the Literacy Learning subscription boxes.
Subscriptions FAQs
Literacy boxes run from February to November each year. Each month, every phase has a new box available.
There are two purchase options:
- One-off purchase
- Monthly subscription for set periods of 3, 6 and 10 months
Monthly subscriptions have discounted pricing. Subscriptions close on the 25th of the month to allow time for boxes to be processed and arrive before the next month they cover.
You can change your subscription box to a different phase if you are at the end of the year and wish to move your remaining boxes into the next Phase as your child develops. You access it via your account dashboard and click EDIT.
If you choose a one-off purchase, you'll need to order each new box. If you choose a monthly subscription, you can sit back and relax — your box will automatically arrive each month.
You can make changes to your subscription by logging into your account here
You may pause your subscription for 1 month, but it isn’t advised as the programme is purposefully designed to run on a continuous cycle for ten months of the year, so skipping a box means missing those sounds in the cycle.
If you'd like to receive the missed boxes, you'll need to keep track of the months you missed and purchase them as one-off boxes the next time that month comes around.
Subscriptions are charged each month on the 16th.
Your subscription box will arrive the month after your first subscription payment. They are shipped to arrive before the month begins, so you have everything you need ready to go.

Yes. Companion Boxes are designed to provide you resources; magnetic tiles, flashcards, high-frequency word cards, handwriting sheets in reusable sleeves. All are designed to be used again and again.
A tutor works with your child once a week, often at a fixed time and a higher cost. Our boxes give you expert-designed structure to use at home, on your schedule, for a fraction of the price, and you stay involved in your child's learning.
